Small
Groups … a Group for Everyone
Seven small groups met this fall.
Some discussed the book, “The Shack”, by William Paul Young, others focused
on the weekly Sunday readings. Some met in homes, others at church.
Some met in the day time, others at night. Some were groups of many
different parishioners, others focused on specialized groups such as a
men’s only group, and a group of moms with young children. Each was
led by a trained facilitator and filled with avid participants. All
found a closer sense of who God is, a better idea of their faith, and made
some new friends. Not a bad return on a few hours spent over the course
of five weeks!
Small
Group Facilitator Training
Pete Ries, former Director of Adult Faith
Formation, RCIA and Evangelization for the Lansing Diocese shared his expertise
on group facilitation with an eager assembly of people. Together
they explored the role of a group facilitator, shared their previous experiences
as group participants and/or leaders, and learned how to help everyone
feel comfortable participating in discussions.
