The Peace and
Justice Committee invites you to join us as a ‘Justice Prayer Partner’
to support this ministry. This concept developed as part of the St.
Francis' Parish Pastoral Plan (2009-2014).
Each ministry group within the Social
Ministry Focus Area was encouraged to
1) define and communicate our Catholic
Social Teaching to the people of St. Francis; and
2) reach out to the community by encouraging ‘Justice Prayer Partners’
for support. A ‘Justice Prayer Partner’ would commit to pray daily
and/or offer daily challenges, sufferings or sacrifices to ask God’s guidance
and grace on the ongoing ministry project(s).
The Peace and Justice Committee discussed
how we might best accomplish this goal. We realized that we have
many people on our distribution list committed to working for peace and
justice, but who may not be able to attend meetings regularly nor to participate
in various events. Your daily prayers and efforts will be a powerful
contribution to the team’s efforts. If you do attend the meetings,
we believe that becoming a ‘Justice Prayer Partner’ will offer an opportunity
for deeper participation and awareness.
A summary of the themes of Catholic Social Teaching along with a list
of the current projects of the Peace and Justice Committee based on each
theme are attached for your prayerful consideration. If you have
any questions or would like to discuss..., Or, if you would like to
join us as a ‘Justice Prayer Partner’, PLEASE contact:
Kelly Gauthier (769-0807)
or Scott Wright 734-821-2121 .
We will then send you a short e-mail stating the current month’s prayer
request along with a brief explanation of the project. Each subsequent
month you will receive a short e-mail with a brief summary of the last
month’s project status and the new prayer request for the month.
You would, of course, be welcome to join us in prayer anytime – just
let me know.
Thank you for your prayerful consideration.
