Peace & Justice Committee - 
Chairperson Position Description: 
 (Proposal by Scott Wright on Tuesday, January 23, 2001. Updated on Tuesday, July 14, 2009.)

The Chairperson of the Peace and Justice Committee is:
1. a witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our community.
2. learning and teaching about injustices in our world and ways to address them.
3. calling together persons interested in living Catholic faith.
4. facilitating Peace and Justice Committee meetings (about once a month).
5. preparing an agenda in consultation with committee members and the director of parish social ministry at St. Francis.
6. delegating the position of secretary, for recording meeting minutes, Etc.
7. leading the committee to turn in goals for each academic year to the Director of Social Ministry by October 1st. 

The director of parish social ministry at St. Francis is responsible for: 
1. supporting and assisting the Committee Chairperson.
2. publicity in the parish weekly forum and Mass announcements.
3. reserving rooms for meetings and events.
4. major communications to the community and public.
5. communicating with the pastor about needs.
6. delegating the position of committee chairperson.
 

Term Limit: Two Years

The Peace and Justice Committee is under the guidance of Scott Wright in conjunction with the St. Francis Parish Social Ministry Commission.  The Peace and Justice Committee serves as the link: educating, advocating, and promoting peace, justice and social issues relevant to/and related to Catholic Social Teaching. This committee is concerned with advocacy on issues that effect human dignity here in the local county and beyond, reaching out as a mission to peoples all over the world.
