How to Use the Library
History
The library was established in 1959 and was located in the "Cry Room" of the second church (now the school gym).
Later, the permanent church was to include a room on the lower level for the library. However, the parish library
was merged with the religious education library and for years it was kept in a space adjacent to the religious education
offices in the school building. Two years ago remodeling took place for those offices. The books and other items were
packed away for eventual movement back to the church into a place off of the soon-to-be-constructed gathering space.
That is now complete and books have been placed on the shelves. The library is beginning to take shape.
Opening date for the library is scheduled for February 21-22, 2004.

Library Materials
There are about 2,500 items in the library that have been catalogued and marked with a bar code for lending purposes. Many more books are awaiting incorporation
into the collection. Acknowledging the multimedia nature of libraries and the Geneva Smithe Library’s role in supplying access to technology, the formats will include, when appropriate:
- print--hardcover, paperback, magazine, newspapers;
- audio-visual media--microfilm, audio cassettes, video cassettes, audio compact discs;
- and electronic resources--CD-ROMs, on-line databases, software access, and the Internet.

Although we have no library fine, per se, we kindly welcome
donations for any damaged or lost materials.
