Annual Report  -- August 2008

My fellow parishioners:

I am pleased to present to you the financial statement for St. Francis Parish for the fiscal year 2007-2008.

As you can see we once again ended slightly "in the black." We did this despite the fact that utility prices have risen sharply and there were certain unexpected expenses (ie. the cost of snow removal this past winter ended up more than double what was budgeted).

We were able to keep everything in balance for two reasons: 1) I asked parish staff and ministries to make cuts to help us compensate for overruns in other areas. 2) You responded to my request for increased giving and continued to be steady and generous in your giving.

What about the financial future of our parish? I know that things are economically difficult for many of you, so despite increased costs, the Finance Council and I are not asking for any increased giving. We ask that you continue your financial commitment to the ministries of St. Francis by maintaining your current level of giving from this past year.

What about other areas of the parish? We remain stable, and despite people leaving the area, new members are joining every week. In the area of ministries: Our religious education program is strong; it is one of the largest in the county with over 700 children. Our school is stable with over 420 children. We have over 2000 people involved in 85 ministries. These ministries help to bring Christ to one another and to our community. This is what Christ is calling us to do.

We have the opportunity to continue to be the presence of the Body of Christ in this community. I thank you for your continued commitment and ask you to continue to use your God given time, talent and treasure for the glory of God and to continue to build and strengthen this parish.

Sincerely,

Fr. Jim McDougall
Pastor
